The recent spin-off of OSS by the large network equipment vendors, so soon after their acquisition, raises questions regarding the viability of the integrated offering. The addition of OSS to jump start the generation of network revenue for the new entrant service providers seemed to make sense - so why is it these OSS vendor acquisitions are the first limb to be amputated when times get tough for the equipment vendors?

And what are their chances of survival after the sale?
